  • BigID Introduces Native Data Access and Masking Control for Snowflake

New York, USA and Tel Aviv, Israel, June 9, 2021 — BigID, the leader in data discovery and intelligence for privacy, protection and perspective, today introduced a new app that integrates with Snowflake, the Data Cloud company, enabling BigID customers to reduce their risk, improve the security of their sensitive data, and achieve continuous compliance.

Organizations can now natively enforce data access and masking within Snowflake’s Data Cloud based on data discovery and policy controls inside BigID. Joint customers can get even more value from their Snowflake data with BigID providing an extra layer of protection to identify and secure personal, sensitive and privileged data.

The new BigID Data Access App for Snowflake can help organizations identify, restrict and secure sensitive crown jewels:

    • Automatically identify and classify sensitive PII, PHI, NPI, IP, and other hard to find sensitive and regulated data stored in Snowflake

    • Define access rules in BigID enforced by Snowflake for who gets access to the data

    • Dynamically mask sensitive data without a proxy

    • Automate and enforce policies in a unified metadata catalog

    • Define, apply, and enforce access policies based on role, sensitivity, and category

    • Reduce risk and address data privacy and protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, NIST, and others

“This new application allows customers to define their data access and masking policies in BigID and enforce them within Snowflake,” said Jon Mayer, VP, Business Development & Partnerships at BigID. “This gives regulated organizations and companies in geographies with data sovereignty, privacy and security obligations a more streamlined experience for managing data in Snowflake.”

“Snowflake Data Cloud provides secure and governed access to an entire network of data, empowering users to share and consume data across business units and with customers, suppliers, and partners,” said Snowflake Head of Product Management – Security Vikas Jain said. “The BigID Data Access Application for Snowflake allows our joint customers to discover, classify, and automate protection of sensitive and regulated data using Snowflake’s native security and governance policies. The integration runs on auto-pilot allowing customers to spend more time using the data and less time implementing data protection.”

  • Protegrity Announces Continued Platform Innovation With New Dynamic Data Masking Capabilities

Customers Can Now Monitor, Mask, or Tokenize Data – All Within a Single Data Store – Allowing Greater Flexibility to Secure Data at the Speed of Business

Salt Lake City, UT, June 9, 2021 – Protegrity, a global leader in data security, today announced the release of the latest version of the Protegrity Data Protection Platform. Version 8.1 of Protegrity’s industry-leading platform introduces dynamic data masking and monitoring capabilities, providing customers with multiple data-protection methods all within a single data store. The company also introduced: enhanced support for language-preserving Unicode tokenization; the Protegrity Cloud API, which allows businesses to easily embed data-protection capabilities into cloud ETL workflows; and a redesigned logging architecture to provide more granular auditability over data-privacy initiatives.

“Companies need to use their data to drive innovation yet keeping data secure often delays access, which can significantly impact mission-critical AI, ML, and analytics initiatives,” said Rick Farnell, President and CEO of Protegrity. “Our latest platform innovations provide expanded choice and control over data-protection methods – effectively expanding the tools available to safeguard data in a way that accelerates innovation.”

Monitoring and Dynamic Data Masking Provide Visibility and Control for Sensitive Data Access

With monitoring and dynamic data masking functionality, version 8.1 of the Protegrity Data Protection Platform provides customers with greater choice and control over the level of data protection they implement to meet the needs of the business. Monitoring capabilities give customers baseline visibility into how data is being accessed and used across the organization. For a higher level of control over sensitive data, businesses can utilize Protegrity’s dynamic data masking, which enforces data-visibility rules at the point of user access to hide or “mask” sensitive data for unauthorized users – without changing the data at rest.

“For less-sensitive data and lightweight use cases, monitoring and dynamic data masking can provide a powerful baseline level of security to reduce risk immediately,” said Jeffrey Breen, EVP of product and strategy at Protegrity. “As an organization’s security and privacy posture matures, we continue to offer stronger protection methods, such as tokenization, which can easily be implemented from the same policy. This ensures that Protegrity can help organizations of any size, of any industry protect their sensitive data no matter where they need to be on the data-privacy continuum.”

Unicode Tokenization Delivers Language-Preserving Data Security for Global Businesses

Unicode is an international standard for the consistent encoding, representation, and handling of text expressed in the world’s writing systems. With version 8.1, Protegrity now brings all the advantages of its industry-leading tokenization to all text encoded in the one- and two-byte Unicode standards. The improved capabilities deliver character-encoding and length-preserving tokenization without performance penalties, allowing organizations to easily tokenize text from all Western alphabets.

Breen continued, “Existing tokenization methods can be taxed to support larger alphabets, so we are proud to be able to offer our customers an innovative new approach to Unicode tokenization. This new capability is an important milestone in Protegrity’s continuing mission to offer no-compromises options to global organizations to protect their most sensitive data.”

New Cloud API and Logging Architecture Enhance Platform Functionality

In addition to new data-protection methods such as monitoring, data masking, and Unicode tokenization, Protegrity has unveiled the following key platform enhancements:

    • Protegrity Cloud API: A “function-as-a-service” tokenization offering for popular cloud services such as AWS and Azure, the Protegrity Cloud API allows organizations to easily embed Protegrity’s data-protection capabilities into ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows, native cloud services, and custom applications. Built on serverless architecture, the Protegrity Cloud API delivers elastic scaling and cost efficiency, regardless of data volume requirements.

    • Redesigned Logging Architecture: Protegrity’s redesigned logging architecture is the continuation of a multi-release capability that was first introduced in version 8.0 with the establishment of a new storage data store for audit logs using Elasticsearch.

Changing consumer dynamics and rapid technology innovation have set a new standard for how companies leverage their data if they want to compete. Data and analytics stacks built on legacy technology fail to deliver. They require users to learn multiple complex environments, create data and process siloes, introduce data latency issues, and are only accessible through static, inflexible dashboards. This limits the impact of analytics, while preventing business users from leveraging the outputs of investments in AI, machine learning, and data science. Instead, businesses need a simple interface to put these cutting-edge data capabilities in the hands of every employee, including developers, data professionals, and business people, quickly and at scale.

ThoughtSpot for Snowpark helps make this a reality by mobilizing the world’s data and making it easy to unlock powerful data insights for every person. Snowpark gives users the ability to write and deploy code in the language of their choice, without having to leave the Snowflake environment, improving efficiency and reducing maintenance. With ThoughtSpot, these same users can expose powerful insights directly to business users through search, or build robust data applications leveraging the combination of ThoughtSpot and Snowflake, without ever having to leave their Snowflake environment.

ThoughtSpot for Snowpark enables customers to:

    • Accelerate moving AI and ML use cases into production: With support for other languages and ML runtimes, data and business leaders can put the power of AI and ML in the hands of business users and decision makers, driving better decisions and ROI from AI investments.

    • Create efficient data to decision pipelines: Snowpark makes it easy to build data pipelines that use familiar constructs and third-party data libraries, while ThoughtSpot provides a new consumer-grade experience for business users to engage with those pipelines at scale, helping both technical and nontechnical easily and efficiently go from data to decisions.

    • Build smart and interactive data apps: Product leaders can build, test, iterate, and launch interactive data apps or embed search-driven analytics in their products with ThoughtSpot Everywhere that leverage Snowpark and subsequently drive richer analytics experiences.

Soaring customer adoption of ThoughtSpot and Snowflake

The announcement comes on the heels of significant customer adoption of ThoughtSpot and Snowflake. Over the last quarter, ThoughtSpot saw a 200% increase in the number of net new customers  sold in partnership with Snowflake over the previous quarter.

“Enterprises are actively seeking to transform their businesses by leveraging the power of data and insight. With ThoughtSpot for Snowpark, companies can harness this incredibly powerful combination to revolutionize how their business uses data,” said Jayant Prabhu, VP & Global Head, Data & Analytics, Wipro Limited. “Our elite partnership with Snowflake and ThoughtSpot, along with our deep industry and domain expertise, help us provide clients with rich analytics experiences and accelerate their Intelligent Enterprise journey.”

“More powerful, nuanced data experiences, fueled by machine learning, AI, and analytics are the competitive edge for modern companies. The key is getting them into the hands of business users” said Seann Gardiner, SVP Business Development, ThoughtSpot. “Snowflake has made it easier to put these technologies to work through a variety of programming languages with the launch of Snowpark. ThoughtSpot is now taking this a step further, making these use cases tangible for the business people who make decisions, engage with customers, and ultimately chart the course for their organizations.”

“We live in a world where rich data experiences, powered by the cloud, AI, and machine learning, are crowning the winners in today’s market. ThoughtSpot and Snowflake work together to help individuals from all levels of an organization use, learn from, and take action with data efficiently and effectively,” said Harsha Kapre, Product Manager, Snowflake. “As companies look to bring analytics to their business users, or build data applications to engage with customers and partners,  partnership with ThoughtSpot  can help joint customers realize the promise of data democratization.”

  • Honeywell Introduces Advanced Monitoring And Incident Response Service to Help Improve OT Cybersecurity and Increase Operational Resilience

Delivers 24/7, real-time capabilities that help industrial organizations identify and mitigate emerging cyber threats, manage overall risk and demonstrate compliance

Atlanta, GA, June 9, 2021 — Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON), a global leader in industrial cybersecurity, announced today the introduction of the Honeywell Advanced Monitoring and Incident Response (AMIR) service. The service provides 24/7 operational technology (OT) cybersecurity detection and rapid response for current and emerging cyber threats.

AMIR is a cost-effective, easy to deploy, scalable cybersecurity service that is tailored to help IT and OT security teams that may struggle to keep up with the continuing evolution of today’s cyber-attacks that target industrial control systems (ICS) and operational technology networks due to a lack of expertise or budget constraints.

AMIR is part of Honeywell Forge Managed Security Services (MSS), an end-to-end security as a service solution that helps protect OT environments, control systems and operations. In comparison, other third-party MSS providers and in-house solutions may rely either on basic monitoring that doesn’t employ a proactive approach to securing critical OT assets and operations or on IT security operation centers that lack OT domain knowledge and expertise in different industrial protocols and assets.

“Honeywell’s Advanced Monitoring and Incident Response solution provides a combination of advanced cybersecurity software, experts, and playbooks with remediation guidance in order to better detect, prevent, analyze, evaluate and coordinate the response to cybersecurity threats occurring within OT environments,” said Jeff Zindel, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Connected Enterprise Cybersecurity. “Staffed by cybersecurity experts with specific OT experience, AMIR offers a tremendous resource to complement any existing IT/OT cybersecurity program and help ease the burden of cybersecurity challenges.”

AMIR continuously monitors OT environments by “hunting” for anomalous behavior, including both known and emerging cybersecurity threats. It analyzes indicators of compromise and alerts operators to potential problems before significant damage can occur. Through the use of proprietary technology, AMIR collects, correlates, prioritizes and analyzes security events and log data from multiple sources, providing a comprehensive approach to better minimize cyber risk and support cybersecurity compliance.

The AMIR offering is already being deployed at multiple sites worldwide to help companies boost their cybersecurity maturity.

AMIR is integrated with the broader Honeywell Forge Cybersecurity portfolio designed to help further strengthen cyber defenses for operating environments. For more information about Honeywell’s AMIR service, visit https://www.honeywell.com/us/en/honeywell-forge/cybersecurity

  • Rollbar Rounds Out First Half of 2021 With Strong Growth and New Features

Company’s Momentum Affirms Strength of Its Continuous Code Improvement Approach

San Francisco, CA, June 8, 2021 – Rollbar, the Continuous Code Improvement Platform, today announced that it has already achieved a record-breaking first half that included the addition of new customers, partnerships, programming languages, and its best ever usage numbers. This is the result of the continuous and ongoing improvements to Rollbar’s AI and machine learning tools via its automation-grade grouping features that help customers separate out the noise of irrelevant error alerts to transform their DevOps approaches at scale.

“Going into the pandemic, we knew that businesses were going to take a hard look at their spend and only keep essential services. So, we made it our business to be essential,” said Rollbar CEO and Co-founder Brian Rue. “We redoubled our commitment to our customers and took an all-hands approach to making our platform better to fulfill our vision of painless development through continuous code improvement. The accelerating growth we’ve seen is a result of our team’s excellent work.”

A Constellation of Small Feature Releases Make a Big Impact

Rollbar used the first half of 2021 to expand its presence across multiple languages and frameworks, and to strengthen its presence within the mobile space for both Android and Apple. The company also made a number of improvements to its Continuous Code Improvement Platform that will enable more Rollbar clients to automate development workflows and responses to code issues. For example, the company:

    • Improved the grouping accuracy of its automation-grade grouping, adding more than 3,000 identified error types and patterns across six languages (Ruby, JavaScript, Python, Java, PHP and C#) into its grouping engine. All machined-identified error types and patterns are tested and validated by Rollbar’s intelligence team before being pushed into production.
    • Launched new Flutter SDK.
    • Launched a new Apple SDK that supports tvOS and watchOS (in addition to iOS and macOS) and will automatically support any new OS.
    • Released local variable support for Node.js to help developers debug faster and more easily with enhanced trace data.
    • Added telemetry support for both Node.js and Go to help developers find the root cause of errors faster with critical information on user behavior, network activity, and more.
    • Released HashiCorp Terraform Verified Provider for Rollbar (built in partnership with HashiCorp), so organizations can provision and manage Rollbar accounts automatically through Terraform, the most widely used multi-cloud provisioning product.
    • Launched a new integration with GitHub Enterprise, so developers can access critical contextual information and debug faster directly within the Rollbar UI.

Company Growth Speaks to the Success of the Continuous Code Improvement Approach

Continuous code improvement is about giving developers more time to spend writing new code by decreasing the amount of time they need to spend finding and fixing errors. Rollbar’s recent usage growth illustrates that more and more companies are seeing the value in this approach. In the first half of 2021, the company:

    • Saw a 70% YoY increase in the number of errors processed daily, which speaks to the new customers the company has attracted and existing customers using Rollbar software across mission-critical applications.
    • Recorded a consistently high net promoter score (NPS). Rollbar’s NPS was 43.2 in Q1 and 44.9 in Q2—well above the SaaS industry average of 31.
    • Added several new banner customers, including leading health and wellness brand Plexus Worldwide.
    • Surpassed the 1 billion unique bug benchmark, meaning that Rollbar customers have now caught more than 1 billion unique bugs.

“Unlike our competitors, we believe that hardcoded algorithms cannot adapt to the diversity of errors and group them accurately, so we decided to use machine learning to identify patterns in stack traces. Our grouping engine treats each error differently, supported by modern AI technologies, and trained on billions of stack traces,” explained Arpad Tamasi, Rollbar principal product manager. “We work constantly to scale and refine the training process to increase grouping accuracy. I’m excited about what we’re achieving, and how much it benefits our clients.”

“Before Rollbar, we only had Loggly and New Relic, so we had to jump through hoops to see what the customer was experiencing. That led to substantial time spent looking through proxy logs and error captures. With Rollbar, we have so much more visibility,” said Ethan Salisbury, principal software engineer at Plexus Worldwide.

Mark George, director of software development at Plexus Worldwide, added some additional context: “Our cost savings thanks to Rollbar are well north of $100,000, potentially $250,000, because of how much it used to cost us to track down issues.”

Rollbar has helped more than 5,000 customers process more than 100 billion errors – resulting in a 9x increase in releases per year. The Continuous Code Improvement Platform has been a game changer for Rollbar customers. With Rollbar, customers are able to resolve errors within minutes, significantly increasing team productivity. Rollbar enables developers to spend less time monitoring, investigating and debugging, and more time creating new products and features that will delight their customers.

  • PagerDuty and JFrog Announce Integrations for DevOps and Security Lifecycle

New integrations provide customers with faster incident resolution, improving uptime, enhancing customer experience and driving revenue generation.

San Francisco, CA, June 8, 2021 — PagerDuty, Inc. (NYSE:PD), a global leader in digital operations management, today announced new integrations with JFrog (NASDAQ: FROG), the liquid software company. The integrations with JFrog Xray and JFrog Pipelines – both part of the JFrog DevOps Platform – allow customers to observe their entire software delivery lifecycle, understanding any changes, and identifying security issues throughout the process. This end-to-end DevOps solution includes DevSecOps, DevOps Observability and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Monitoring for on-prem hybrid and Multi-Cloud deployments.

“Traditionally, information security was a bottleneck in software delivery,” said Timm Hoyt, global vice president of partners & alliances at PagerDuty. “This new integration will not only help remove this bottleneck but help organizations thrive when resolving incidents. We’re proud to partner with JFrog and provide a solution that helps teams manage urgent, mission critical work that is essential to keeping digital services always on.”

With the JFrog Xray-PagerDuty integration, DevSecOps teams can receive PagerDuty notifications for open source security vulnerabilities and license compliance violations detected by Xray’s continuous scanning of packages and container images to quickly fix the issues. PagerDuty can then turn any security or license policy alert into an incident report. This is useful to proactively manage security and compliance across the software development and release lifecycle, customize notifications, and receive a continuously updated list of impacted components and their associated dependencies.

With JFrog Pipelines and PagerDuty, users can simplify and streamline how to identify faulty builds that impact production environments. IT operators can quickly detect incidents, determine root causes, roll back builds and shrink resolution time. This helps IT operators and developers become more productive, determine what has changed within their environment, and makes them better able to prevent outages and increase the uptime, stability and reliability of business-critical applications and digital services.

“We are excited to partner with PagerDuty. The integration of our leading solutions — the end-to-end, universal DevOps Platform from JFrog, and PagerDuty’s digital operations management capabilities — enable DevOps teams with powerful observability and incident management throughout the DevOps lifecycle,” said Steve Chin, Vice President of Developer Relations, JFrog.

To learn more about the integration of JFrog and PagerDuty products, register for PagerDuty Summit from June 22-25, 2021 and tune in for the session “The Power of AIOps” by Mitra Goswami.
